For stretch marks on the market everything is artificial so try something organic and natural that’s bioidentical to our body chemistry. I used organic Green15 oil for stretch marks during pregnancy and didn’t get one stretch mark and I still use it as prevention. It’s also great in recovering existing stretch marks, you can read real people reviews on amazon.com

This problem actually has a name. It is called Melasma. I have sun spots and freckles from tanning. And have a dime sized spot with a smudged line look to it. This is from taking BC pills for years. You get this pigmentation from hormones. That’s why a lot of people develop this with pregnancy. It is also called “The mask of Pregnancy”. Some people have had luck with over the counter and high end products with hydroquinone and retinoids. But most people end up getting prescription strength Retin A and/or hydroquinone creams such as Renova or Tri Luma. I have used Alpha Hydroxy products and Neutragena Intensive care with some fading results. I am now trying Green Cream and MaMa Lotion. (bought from www.cosmeticville.com) I am seeing results in my pores, fine lines (I’m 43) and some fading after one week. I am going to try taking a MSM supplement also. Sunscreen is VERY important as the sun makes the areas darker. Even a little sun! There is a lot of info. On the web about Melasma. Beware of all the product adds! Derm doctor . Com has great message boards and http://www.pregnancystretchmarkscream.com has product reviews and skin boards. Good luck! I hope this helps

is coco butter the best cream to use in pregnancy?

Best of users answers:

Well yeah coco butter is recommended but i say anything very oily and full of vitamin e is good. U should keep that belly greased up all day and nite. Now you can’t stop getting stretch marks but you can stop how much and how bad you get them. I use to use shea butter(pure form) mixed with vitamin e oil everyday. Now my belly is wearable to the public. I got very light stretch marks thats not noticeable unless you got down in my belly looking for it. Matter fact i went to a club last weekend wearing a belly shirt and a belly ring. People were astonished i had a baby 3mths ago. Off course along with lots of gym time and watching what i eat.

Hiya Louise,
I used a product called bio oil, it makes the skin supple and helps fade stretch marks, scars, blemishes acne and so on and so on,
it really does work a treat tho. I still use it now and my little one is now 5!. It’s great for firming the skin too! It cost’s around £8 per bottle, you only need a tiny amount, you can even put a few drops in your bath.
It’s available from any large pharmacy.
Give it a go, i’ve recommended it to all my friends and they have also had good results too!.
Good Luck with the birth!

How useful did you find “What to expect when your expecting”?

I actually had better pregnancy books that showed wonderful pictures and were a little more detailed…..I also bought “What to expect the first year” and that has proved to be somewhat helpful…so what do you ladies think….what to expect when your expecting-is it over rated?

I don’t like this book. HUGELY overrated. The Q & A format bothers me. There’s so much stuff that’s just NOT covered in this series. When i was pregnant I loved “I’m Pregnant: A Week by Week Guide” — it has such detailed information and amazing photos.

Every once in awhile I refer to the “What to expect: the first year” book, but it usually doesn’t even address whatever topic/issue is on my mind.

How important was/is making your baby book?

With both of my children I was obsessed with making a gorgeous baby book that I’m not sure will ever be finished. My daughter is 2 and her’s is always in progress. Also, we make a lot of home movies and my husband made a beautiful video diary with photos of my pregnancy. I consider these to be my most precious possessions. So, I’m just curious how important documenting your pregnancies and kid’s lives is to you, and how you go about doing it.

I haven’t started a baby book yet, its still early in my pregnancy and I don’t want to get cocky. I do have a very detailed pregnancy journal. I write directly to the baby and do so weekly. Example: Week 10, you do not like BBQ sauce! I also write every time I have an OB appointment or ultrasound and every time there is a first. First baby gift given, first maternity item bought… I think it will be something special to share with her (hoping for a her) when she’s older and something fun to read when she’s pregnant with her own kids.

what are the risks of having bi polar well pregnant and after?

i have bi polar and my doctors have told me that i will probably have post pardom depression? will i? what else can happin because of it? what meds can i take? i wanted to have a drug free pregnancy but what percentage of a chance i will need meds after to control myself and keep it under control. the last 3 months of my pregnancy i have had severe depression and alot of stress… does that play a fact about anything?

Best of users answers:

First of all bi-polar and other such terms are just words to try to describe mood swings and so don’t let yourself be defined and limited to a word, you are so much more than that.
It is very common in our society to be on some kind of medication, and many mothers have wonderful successful pregnacies and are fantastic after the arrival of their child without a hitch.
So post=partum depression might or might not happen, and the future is not here yet. If you do have it there are plenty of solutions so never worry, everything will be fine.
Just release the stress that doctors put on you, it is not a part of today, and is not necessarily a fact, so just let this worry go.
Enjoy the balance of your life and focus on what you can do to make this easy when you are further along and do not feel like cooking or doing much.
This would be a good time to do some spring cleaning, and make some home made nutritious diners for the freezer. Also keep exercising and write in a journal, your child will love reading it when they are older.
You might want to put a little story book together with bright colourful pictures from magazines, or a family photo and keepsake album…use this time to enjoy your good fortune and don’t worry about something that might or might not happen.
Stay in the moment…enjoy today.

There was a book about sex for junior high school students but they don’t provide it any more. We are far behind in terms of sex education. Kids are not protected enough and porno magazines with naughty photos are easily found in convenience stores (7-eleven kind of shops).

Without leaning it at the school, I learnt it when I was 11 from a friend and some girls learn it from their mother when the period starts. There are many books and sites to teach kids about sex and it was thrilling to browse those books in book stores with other girls.

Spread them around foundation areas, or in trailers or cars that are sitting. It also keeps mice from entering your vehicle.

It takes the odor out of books and photo albums that don’t get opened too often.

Repels mosquitoes. Tie a sheet of Bounce through a belt loop when outdoors during mosquito season.

Eliminates static electricity from your television (or computer) screen.

Since Bounce is designed to help eliminate static cling, wipe your television screen with a used sheet of Bounce to keep dust from resettling.

Dissolve soap scum from shower doors. Clean with a sheet of Bounce.

Freshen the air in your home. Place an individual sheet of Bounce in a drawer or hang in the closet.

Put Bounce sheet in vacuum cleaner.

Prevent thread from tangling. Run a threaded needle through sheet of Bounce before beginning to sew.

Prevent musty suitcases. Place an individual sheet of Bounce inside empty luggage before storing.

You could make your own and it would be unique! She’ll love to look at it one day. Go get a pink or purple scrapbook(or they have some with baby stuff on them) they are blank inside so you just choose a theme for each page and go with it! For instance: 1st page-carrying you-include a b4 you got pregnant picture and a 36-38 week pregnant photo and write down food cravings, what it felt like when she moved,etc.-You can personalize it with photos/ stickers/ gift tags from baby shower and so much more. Scrapbooking is my favorite hobby! The next 2-3 pages could be: Your birth and include her 1st couple baby pics, fingerprints, hair etc and hospital bracelet, pic of outfit she wears home from the hospital. If you don’t know what types of things to do,you can look in a baby book at the store or do scrapbook research on the net. It will be cool because you can customize her baby book yourself!

Enjoy it. It goes by so fast. It may not seem like it right now, but once you have the baby you will realize how little time you had during your pregnancy. I didn’t suffer depression but I did kind of miss the kicks and the movements after my daughter was born. She is three and a half now and I still think about it sometimes.

Have a maternity photo-shoot done when you are really showing but before you get so big you are uncomfortable. I didn’t and that is the one thing I regret about my pregnancy.

Pregnancy Belly Pictures…How many Weeks?

What week of pregnancy is the best time to get pregnancy pictures taken? When did you get yours done? Did you wish you had got them done earlier or later? Can I see? haha. My SIL is a photographer and she’s going to do some for me and put them on canvas to hang in the nursery (lucky me and I don’t know when I should get them done. I am 30 weeks now. I was thinking around 35 weeks? I’m not really that big, I’ve only gained 6 pounds *(not for a lack of trying) and I wanted to wait until I was bigger, but I don’t want to wait too long and have the baby first lol.

I asked this before, but I think people thought I meant just taking pictures of my belly with a regular camera, but my SIL is a photographer and there’s going to be a “photo shoot” type thing and we’re taking like professional type artsy pictures to put on canvas (like the hand heart on the belly picture, or DH kissing the belly, stuff like that) not just candid photos.

I am 28 weeks and we are planning to do the same type of pictures in mid june, I figure I will be 32 or 33 weeks by then. I’m not very big now either, but I am at risk for having the baby early so I don’t want to wait too long, and have it be too late. The other thing I was concerned about was stretch marks, I don’t have them yet (knock on wood) and would like them done b4 I started getting any but my photographer said she can photoshop them out. When ever you feel is the best time, since your not that big you may not get a whole lot bigger. I would say anywhere from 32 to 36 weeks would be a good time.

When taking pregnancy belly pictures…..?

When you take a pregnancy belly pic you want to make sure that you’re standing about the same way, right?
The best result for size comparison is to always be at the same angle, have the same lighting conditions & camera set up.
Angle:- Pose on the same spot (ie an arm length from a wall, place a marker on the floor) Facing the same direction (ie towards a light switch, cupboard)
Camera:- A tripod in the same position & height works best. Use the same camera settings
Lighting:- experiment with lighting conditions curtains open/closed. Lights on/off, Flash on/off. Keep a note of the lighting per photo. Reset the best photo conditions every reshoot.
Pose standing for the photos in underwear or naked allows a much better view of the changes with your body. All that depends of cause on who is to see the photos.
For near identical photos zoom in on the desired position on your body
ie bottom of view finder (vf) half way up your thigh. Top vf in line with ? Left & right in line with ?
Hope this is helpful.

19 weeks and no where near as big a pregnancy belly as I expected, is baby still growing properly?

I don’t see my doctor for another week and a half but I’m a little concerned, I was looking at pregnancy belly pictures online and they are all much bigger than me. I still wear my normal clothes, the only change being that I don’t do up the top button on my skirts or pull the zip all the way up, but that’s for comfort, not nececity. I had quite severe morning sickness which has not fully disapeared, however I started taking medication about a month ago and am eating fairly well now (I had no belly at all until then, and within 3 days of being able to eat again I popped out). When I got pregnant I was pretty slim, but had a little bit of a potbelly that I couldn’t seem to get rid of after puberty, I lost it during the morning sickness, but my preggy belly looks only a little bigger than it did

Baby however feels very active, only has kicking sessions about twice a day but these sessions can go on, with breaks, for a half hour.

Could my lack of a belly indicate baby is below the size/weight it should be, or do they tend to be independent of each other? I haven’t seen my doctor since 16 weeks, should I book in earlier to get it checked out or am I just being a paranoid first time mum? Thanks!

At 19 weeks i wasnt showing at all. I didnt look noticable pregnant until about 25 weeks and even then to mot strangers i probably just looked like a was a bit fat around the middle . Im 37 weeks now and if i compare myself to the ‘average’ belly size i probably only look about 25 weeks at most and my doc told me last week that my baby is expected to be about 8 pounds at birth so obviously your size does not reflect your babys size at all. Im still wearing my jeans i was before i was pregnant, just with the smallest BellyBelt thing that you button into your pants to make the waist a little stretchy. I am not overweight nor was i when i got pregnant, and ive only put on about 7kgs (average is 13kg). It just depends on your body type and how your body accomodates a baby.

With my first I started to show around 14 weeks but wasn’t completely noticeable to people who didn’t know me until around 20 weeks. I got pretty big but I was all baby.. I didn’t really gain weight anywhere else and actually lost 26 lbs in the first day. I gained 46 lbs total when i delivered and have lost 30 total and only have 6 to go til my goal weight. I was 100lbs when I got pregnant though and very underweight. I am 5″3′. At 10 weeks I had probably gained 15 lbs. My daughter is 4 1/2 months now and like I said I’ve lost 30 so far.

after pregnancy belly help?

i’m 33 weeks pregnant with my first baby, and i’ve seen pictures of women’s bellies after pregnancy. they’re all stretched out and i REALLY dont want that. is there a way i can reduce the stretchiness without getting the surgery (because i’m planning on having more than one kid). i heard exercising can help reduce it. but is there anything else?
what about these belly wraps? they say they’re supposed to help get skin reattached to the muscles faster. has anyone used any of these and which ones did you guys think worked the best?

Best of users answers:

Obviously, excersice is always going to help no end in reaching your pre-pregnancy figure. However,as lazy as I sound,I have never ever done any of these post-natal excercises that they recommend..and ive just had my 4th baby girl!!.
Suprisingly enough, having just had my 4th baby,my weight has simply dropped off me whereas I had a real hard time getting my figure back after my first 2 or 3!!.
One thing I do swear by is breastfeeding!..Not only do I chose breastfeeding as the best option for my babies as it obviously is ..but though it can cause mild cramping in your tummy for a few days after birth, breastfeeding is well-known for making your womb and uterus contract back to it’s previous state,(hence the pains/cramping),but well worth it!!.
Other than this..3 kids and a newborn keep me more than busy enough with housework and caring and the principle can be the same for new mums with one or two…providing you keep active, you’ll get back in shape.
I’ts a supposed fact that it actually takes the human body 12 months to recover from the trauma of giving birth..so give it time too..your belly will be the last thing on your mind in a few weeks time trust me lol!!
Good luck xxx

How do I know which Palmer’s stretch mark product to get?

I got ready for the pregnancy by using the “Massage Lotion for Stretch Marks” but then i got too busy with school and didn’t have time to apply it every morning and evening….then before you know it I have major stretch marks on my belly, hips, butt and thighs! Anyways, I went to the store to buy more lotion but then i noticed all of these other products!!! There’s the Tummy Butter, Massage Lotion, Itchy Skin Lotion, Firming Lotion…the list goes on. I must’ve spent an hour looking for a product to buy. and i couldn’t decide because they all cost the same. I finally just said the hell with it and got the Tummy Butter, since that is where the stretch marks seem the worst.

Save your money. Stretch marks are 100% genetic. If your mother had them chances are you will too. People who didn’t get them will swear by certain products. But the products didn’t prevent the stretch marks, their DNA did. Also, they do fade with time. But only laser surgery will come close to getting rid of them.
That said, feel free to use any lotion for dry skin. I recommend Philosophy and Aveda products.

Honestly, lotion does not prevent stretch marks, whether or not a pregnant woman will get stretch marks or not is more hereditary than anything. It’s all in your genes!

I have a 2 year old and im pregnant with my second (due dec 10th) and im sooo worried about getting MORE stretch marks. I was really small when i got pregnant and gained more weight then i wanted to, and gave birth to an almost 9 pound little girl- YES i got lots of stretch marks.
I used cocoa butter every single day- i also used vitamin e- but you are doing good using the aloe and baby oil and stuff. I would lather on anything you can. But i really honestly dont beleive in the cocoa butter, i used palmers every day like 3x a day- and i still got them. I got them around 8 months. Maybe a little before, i was devastated! But i mean it was worth it for my little girl, but i was like only 19 so it did suck! Lol.
I think it depends on your skin. My doc said that its genetics, so if your mom got them you are most likely to get them aned i beleive it. But, if you have a good man, like i do, then they dont care about that because they know why they are there and love you no matter what.
Congrats! Only a few more weeks before we can figure out the gender!!!

Comfy clothes. Great books.
Thick socks.
Any pillow will do, I think. I used three. One between my knees, one behind my back, one under my head.
A bouncy…but you should wait til you are further along for that.
A pack and play. A stroller or snugli. All of this later on though.
Books on baby and stuff. Are you breastfeeding?
Nursing pads are good. My nipples were often sore. And chapped. No soap on them.
The lotion is a good idea. Cocoa butter lotion, soap, oil. Wish I had used them all.
Slip-on shoes a half size bigger, maybe.

Recommendations for good, youthful maternity wear, body lotions, accessories, etc?

A friend of mine who is a diligent birth control user just found out she is pregnant (I guess that’s why they say it is only 99% effective). Although it came as a shock, she is handling the news well and excitedly getting ready for her new arrival. Since this was so unexpected and I am sure she is terrified, I would like to do a little something extra to show my support for her (obviously she already knows she has it), by putting together a series of gift baskets with stuff to help her get through her pregnancy comfortably and in style. Of course I will be getting stuff for the baby too, but I want these baskets to be treats just for her. Does anyone have any recommendations for clothing boutiques (online or otherwise), lotions, specialty foods, etc. or anything else that they really enjoyed/helped them during their pregnancy? If it helps at all, my friend is smaller and in her early 20s. I would like to find clothing that is age appropriate and that she would be comfortable wearing. She is also very body conscious, so stretch mark lotions and pregnancy workout tape recommendations would be great as well.

Don’t jump into clothing stuff just yet, your not sure how big she’ll get.
As far as lotions, get her some stretch mark lotion.
It is sold at Walmart and Motherhood Maternity.
Foods, “preggie-pops” they sell those online or at babiesrus.
The help with the nausea the first 3 months or so.
My fiance bought me a pregnancy work out DVD and I love it.
There are a lot of choices.
Since you friend just found out, I recommend get her this set of DVDs that has four disks, one for each of the trimesters and one for post-pregnancy.
I hope everything goes well!!

Best of users answers:

Don’t waste your time with creams because they can’t penetrate through stretch marks. Stretch marks are like scars and the only way to get rid of them is to scrub them off layer by layer.
Professionals use machine for this but you can do it yourself by hand if you get profesional abrasive such as medical crystals. You can mix medical crystals with lotion and massage over stretch marks to shed those topical cells that accumulated after stretched skin healed. I did this for a month and stretch marks got smaller every time I scrubbed and are now completely gone.Just google medical crystals to see the process.

Best of users answers:

There really isn’t any surefire way to get rid of stretchmarks. You can make them look less noticible if the area with stretchmarks is well toned (in other words be in good shape). You can try and use over the counter stuff but I’ve been there and done that and its a waste of money. Laser treatments work sometimes, but won’t make them completely disappear. Stretchmarks gradually lighten overtime.

If they are stretchmarks from pregnancy the only permanent remova would be a tummy tuck.

Best of users answers:

Well, I have suffered from stretch marks since I was a teenager, so there are a lot of remedies I have tried. (I’ve used oils, creams, etc…) But none of those things worked as much as dieting did. I’m not saying you have to buckle down and only eat lettuce for a year. What I mean is, since July, I have lost 40 pounds with this diet and over time, my stretch marks have faded. What it is is a limit on carbohydrates. (rice, bread, sodas, candy, sugar) What I do is eat 10-20g of carbohydrates with each meal, eat lots and LOTS of vegetables, and drink diet sodas or 2 small glasses of 1% milk a day. This is actually a very filling diet and it doesn’t relaly feel like you’re dieting. You can still have dessert and what not, but it’s all about moderation. I have not exercised once, and this does not interfere with my everyday life because you can still eat at resturaunts. And since you have a 3 year old son, this would help him to learn how to eat healthily when he grows up. So not only would you be losing stretch marks, you’d also be losing weight, and you would be a good influence on your son.
I hope that helped!

I’ll tell you what, go natural. Natural remedies work. Start off by ditching all harsh and synthetic chemicals. They are terrible for your skin in the long run (not to mention, expensive). Switch to all natural or organic products and you will see a major difference. I can’t even tell you how much my skin has cleared just from using natural home remedies. This is coming from someone who has had tons of acne and scars on my face. Beyond belief. Vitamin E is really good for scars. So is Rose Hip Seed Oil and Tea Tree.

Oh and you should definitely try the BestBathStore soaps. All of their soaps are handmade with 100% natural ingredients. I’ve been using their acne cleansing bar as my morning wash. It only took about 2 days for me to see major improvement on my scars.

I’m not the only one. They have an entire review section here:

A cure? I don’t think so. But prevention…or trying to prevent them, you can use cocoa butter.

After you loose the excess weight the stretch marks loose the redness and go back to a natural color, but not exactly the same skin tone. The best thing right now it just to exercise and loose the excess weight.

Who knows, maybe in a few years there could be a surgery to get rid of them. But none that I could find, sorry.

I am not sure about the lotion you are using. Go to the health food store and get pure shea and cocoa butter. You can put them in a small pot, melt them together, add a little good quality oil (vitamin E for example) to make it a little more soft. Rub this on your stretching parts at least twice a day. I used this during both pregnancies. I got no stretch marks with #1 and still have none with #2

stretch marks from pregnancy?

i always put some cocoa butter on my stomach and some on my thighs since the beginning thinking that if i were to get stretch marks, they’d be on my stomach…well turns out my body is different. i got no stretch marks on my stomach whatsoever, BUT i got stretch marks on my legs, where the knee bends, on the back of my leg, and a lot on my thighs under my a**. well cocoa butter doesn’t seem to help at all, so what other creams can help them go away? they’re little and not too bad, but they’re really dark color and i’m having a summer baby and rather not have them this bad after birth. so r there any creams that work really good to help them go away?
well first of all, i know Cocoa Butter does work most of the time bc it add elasticity to the skin which prevents the stretch marks from appearing, but it’s not helping them go away, and i need something to make them go away, obviously i can’t prevent them now since they’re already there lol

Best of users answers:

There is a lot of stretch mark treatment available on the market these days. Some treatments are more effective in fading or even eliminating stretch marks, but the success of the treatment depends on a few different things. First of all is the color and age of the stretch marks. If they have faded to a flesh color they are much harder to heal. Second of all, ethnicity and heredity play a role in which creams, oils and other products or equipment will succeed in healing stretch marks.

The cheapest stretch mark treatment available is creams made especially for stretch marks. The most effective creams contain ingredients such as cocoa butter, lanolin and wheat germ oil. These creams actually heal and rebuild the damaged skin. While they may not be able to completely eliminate stretch marks, they may at least make the stretch marks fade to a barely visible scar. A good recommendation will be Palmer Cocoa Butter Cream.

Another popular & effective cream that you might wish to consider is Strivectin. It has a bioactive topical formula that has a combination of skin firming agents to reduce visible wrinkles and make skin appear firmer

If you are interested in more effective ways of getting rid of stretch marks, you can read abt them from this site: http://stretch-marks.my-fashion-house.com/

HOW DO YOU GET RID OF STRETCH MARKS?

I have literally tried EVERYTHING from Bio-Oil to Cocoa Butter to pregnancy creams, and I’ve never even been pregnant! I’m starting to think that there’s no way to get rid of them. I’m 18 years old, 5’5, and 115 pounds and have had them since I was 13 years old. My doctor says that they eventually fade away by themselves but I think they’re getting worse. I have some on my inner thighs and the rest is all over my butt, and sometimes I have them on my breasts. They’re so annoying! I heard it’s really hard to get rid of them once you have had them for a while. What have other people tried that worked for them?
I’ve maintained the same weight for as long as I can remember. I got my stretch marks when I was going through puberty. My breasts and butt got bigger in a short period of time.

Clearing up stretchmarks?

Ok, I am 23 weeks pregnant and against everyones advice I have not been using stretch mark cream since the biginning. Everyone told me, use it from the day you find out to prevent stretchmarks. I didn’t listen and now I have stretchmarks. I started to use Palmers cocoa butter cream, stretchmark formula in hopes of preventing them from becoming any worse. I just wanted to know if any woman out there has ever had stretch marks and then was able to clear them up after pregnancy and how did you do it. And are ther any better products to use that work better?

Best of users answers:

Stretchmarks are basically scars. Typically, the only thing that can remove them is surgery. There are several creams out there that reportedly help with them once they’ve appeared, including the pricey StriVectin, but I don’t know that it’s guaranteed or anything. And, I personally wouldn’t tell a pregnant woman to use it.

While many people swear by Cocoa Butter and it can help to soften the skin, keep in mind that the molecules are too large to actually penetrate the skin. You are applying a protective layer, but not necessarily rehydrating deeper skin.

Vitamin E oils and lotions are said to be helpful as they are used in scar reduction frequently. My local Trader Joe’s carried Vit. E Oil at a very reasonable price. I recommend massaging into affected areas after showering, before bed time, and any other time you might remember to.

Drink plenty of water and eat plenty of fruits & vegetables as well. These will help keep your skin flexible by nourishing it from the inside out. All the lotion in the world won’t help if you aren’t staying hydrated.

Congratulations on your pregnancy! : )

Best of users answers:

If the calculator says you are only 3 weeks pregnant you cannot officially be feeling sick for 3 weeks because of those three weeks you should have only been pregnant for ONE technically! That is if you are using the calculator correct

See, you base your weeks on when you had the first day of your last period.

For example, my last period started on the 5th of Feb, I conceived about two weeks later but they judge my date from the first day of my last period which means though I have only technically been pregnant 3 weeks and about 5 days (day I conceived round about), I am 5 weeks 5days. Understand?

Hope I helped. If you are only ONE week pregnant (3 weeks by your last period) you might notice a few things but they wouldn’t be very strong symptoms I wouldn’t think. Though I admit to testing about 4 days before my period was due as I had obvious symptoms for me and KNEW I was pregnant.

So hmmmm….good luck either way and if you get the right pregnancy test maybe you can test in a few days and get a positive. If not wait until your period is due and try again.

Good luck!

The first thing that you need to consider when choosing the best stretch mark cream is results. One of the most asked questions on stretch mark creams is; will the cream work? This is the first thing that one needs to know about a stretch mark cream. It is advisable for one to visit the dermatologist before starting medication on a cream, most creams do not have side effects but one can never be sure enough. Since the human skin differs with each individual it is not advisable to use any cream for treatment purposes. Therefore one needs to consult with the dermatologist for a skin checkup to know which ingredients in a cream to avoid or use. The manufacturer should also provide information to the users via forums and also allow question and answer services.

There are creams out there that can help get rid of your stretch marks, but you need to find the right one.

I found this on the site I put in the source box below:

Things to look for in a stretch mark cream

There are a lot of creams and ointments out there that claim to remove stretch marks. The best way to fight stretch marks is to increase your skins flexibility before your stretch marks start appearing by using a topical cream on the area before the skin starts to show stretch marks. If you already have stretch marks, hope is not lost. There are creams out there that contain ingredients that help heal the skin while minimizing scar tissue.

Some of the key ingredients that you will want to make sure your cream contains are:

Vitamin A Palmitate

Vitamin A is an essential vitamin and is best known for having positive effects on vision. However Vitamin A is just as important to the largest organ; the skin.

Clinical studies have shown vitamin A to have properties that block the absorption of harmful UVA and UVB rays, as well as a stimulating effect on cell regeneration. It has been clinically shown to improve the appearance of striae (stretch marks) and regulate epidermal (skin) cell growth.

Aloe Vera Extract

Aloe vera has been shown in clinical studies to have a positive effect on wound healing and holds anti-inflammatory properties.

As stretch marks start out as microscopic tears in skin layers due to overstretching of the dermis, aloe vera helps heal these small wounds without causing scar tissue to form, effectively preventing the appearance of stretch marks. Aloe vera has been used for thousands of years by the Egyptians, Romans, Greeks, Arabs, Indians and Chinese to decrease the appearance of scars and to moisturize and heal skin.

This extract from the aloe leaf protects skin from environmental factors and promotes skin regeneration.

Grapefruit Seed Extract

Grapefruit seed extract is a natural antibiotic used for many different types of skin ailments. It is a powerful ingredient to aid in the healing of skin damage. Grapefruit seed extract helps to restore damaged collagen and elastin, which strengthens and retextures the skin.

As collagen and elastin are responsible for the skins elasticity, improving and stimulating production of the connective tissue cells will prevent skin from tearing and thus prevent the formation of stretch marks. The condition of the skins connective tissue also dictates how well the skin contracts after pregnancy. So not only does this compound improve the condition of your stretching skin, after the delivery it will also aid in the contraction of your skin to its previous appearance.

DL-Penthenol

DL-Penthenol is the scientific name for pro-vitamin B5. It has healing properties on damaged skin as it works to improve the structure of both the lower and upper skin layers. DL-Panthenol soothes skin while stimulating cell growth and differentiation.

This ingredient aids in the regeneration of the skin, therefore aiding in reducing the appearance of existing stretch marks by replacing the scar tissue with new skin cells. It also acts to prevent stretch marks by promoting collagen and elastin production, which allows your skin to stretch without rupturing and causing stretch marks.

A cream that has shown to be highly effective at preventing stretch marks as well as healing stretch marks that you already have is Stretch Mark Prevention by Revitol.

Whether you are afraid that stretch marks may be in your future of if they are already a part of your life, the Stretch Mark Prevention cream is the product you will want on your side!

I would say try to use side lighting and/or back lighting. Sometimes it’s tricky to work with, but you want to avoid letting any light hit the black backdrop, or it will just look weird. With lamps you’ll need some way to block the light as it tends to radiate out in all directions.

What would be the best way to light an already-overweight pregnant woman?

My best friend just found out that she is pregnant and we are all very excited for her.

She has asked me to shoot her pregnancy photos at around eight months and of course I said yes. Thing is, is that she is somewhat overweight (quite bottom-heavy) but just looking at her face, you really wouldn’t be able to tell.

I’m wondering if there are any lighting techniques on how to show off her belly without making her look any larger than she is. Certain color seamless? Selective lighting?

Thanks in advance!

Where can I purchase a baby belly book online?

I’m 11 weeks pregnant today and I’m wanting to purchase a belly book. (A pregnancy book that lists all the weeks in pregnancy where you are able to put a few pictures in that section of how your belly looks during that week.) I want this as a keepsake and one day I want to be able to give it to my child to hold onto forever. Where can I purchase a good one? Maybe they even have pregnancy photo albums that state the week of pregnancy where I can add a few pictures. (I might want to add more than one picture under each section) I already have a baby book where I can put it information about my doctor’s appointments and such. This is not what I want. I strictly want a belly book. Does anyone know where I can find one??

Eyelash growth serums during pregnancy?

It says Latisse is not recommended for use during pregnancy, but latisse is so expensive anyhow.

I was wondering if i could use an eyelash serum such as Neulash, or Dea Bella Lash, or LiLash….

How can an eyelash serum seriously affect the fetus, i am curious? I am 5 months pregnant. My eyelashes are not what they use to be a couple years ago (i blame too much mascara usage on my part) and i want to look AMAZING for my pregnancy photos, for my bf, but most of all… for myself.

Pregnancy is super stressful, what with morning sickness, belly aches and pains, is it so bad if i give an eyelash growth serum a try? Your thoughts.

I wouldn’t ingest anything i didn’t have to. Science doesn’t know much about what we take and how it effects the fetus. And I’m pretty sure eyelash serum has not been tested on pregnant women.

First time moms, did you know when your baby dropped?

I feel like I’m not going to know when the baby drops. I don’t take belly photos everyday because I get too lazy. I’m breathing fine as it is, so I don’t feel like I’ll notice any huge relief.

I HARDLY noticed a difference. My son dropped so gradually I wasn’t totally sure until the doctor told me. In fact, at this point I would think he didn’t if I hadn’t been told otherwise. The big difference for me oddly enough now is my pelvic bones HURT so bad after getting up out of bed, off the couch etc…generally hurt from any reseting position.

I can’t post the pictures right now because I’m on a server that doesn’t allow it, but I will try and remember to post later.

I miss my body still and I have a 6 month old. I went from 127lbs to 185lbs in my pregnancy; I am now 160lbs so I still have 30lbs to lose. But I’m too exhausted to exercise lol. I try and eat healthy but sometimes it doesn’t work because the baby takes up so much time that I grab whatever I can (although I do try to grab veggies and fruit instead of junk).

I think about going to the gym and whatever, but then I look at my son and think; well I can go to the gym or I can play with him…or I think well I can spend my money on a class or gym membership or go and get something fun for us to do together. I can’t bring myself to spend the money on the gyms and such here because they are so expensive.

Try looking for a mom and baby exercise class, that might be fun! But don’t stress too much for the first 6 weeks…your mind and your body will be too exhausted to deal with the added stress lol. And it’s completely worth it; I would give up my life for my son and that makes my body seem pretty minor in comparison.

I would relish at the chance of being pregnant with him again too…I liked my body pregnant way more than I like it after the fact lol.

Can you no longer post a question on Y!A with a link to a picture?

Everytime I post a question in the pregnancy section it will not show up on the board. If I post the same question without the link it shows up until I post the link to a picture of my belly and then it no longer shows up on the pregnancy section. I used to post questions with links to my belly photos when I was pregnant with my first. I do not understand why this is happening.
its a photobucket picture if that matters?

Best of users answers:

There has always been a ‘spamming’ block on links, particularly from sites that are being overused for posting here. Like photobucket and youtube. They MAY work sometimes, early in the day, before lots of folks have posted and triggered the block. Or they may not. You can try using a different hosting site that might work better (maybe flickr?). Or you can disguise the link and ask users to copy & paste it.

But you should be careful about posting questions with photo links and be SURE that they are not ‘chatting’ questions (which many are), since those may end up being reported and removed as violations.
